MORE NINE INCH NAILS DETAILS

Nine Inch Nails have another date to discuss. Singer Trent Reznor says, quote, “An offer to headline the V-Fest in Toronto set the idea in motion to play some FUN shows to end this up with. If we can get it together, we’ll film these shows too.” Reznor will headline one of the two dates at the Virgin Festival Ontario, but details of the exact dates and performers for Molson Amphitheatre event have not been revealed. As for the proposed intimate venue sets in New York, Mew and The Horrors will provide support. Mew are also expected to open in both Chicago and Los Angeles. Firm release dates for the shows or how to get tickets have not been announced for the final Nine Inch Nails touring performances.

CORNELL SAYS SOUNDGARDEN ARE REFLECTING

A Soundgarden reunion is not in the works, but Chris Cornell says the members of the band have been talking of late and reflecting on their history. The vocalist tells “Rolling Stone,” quote, “The only thing we have talked about it trying to put together an album of B sides and maybe a box set with some unreleased tracks we have. This is something we first talked about 10 years ago. We all feel it’s time to do that, and we have a lot of fans out there, and we have a lot of new fans discovering our music.” Cornell says he feels the band’s catalog and legacy has been largely ignored by their record label and previous management, so they’ve decided to get together and work out details for the proposed package. As for a potential reunion, the vocalist says the b-sides set is their primary concern, but added, quote, “I’ve always said nothing is impossible…..It takes somebody to really stand up and say, ‘We should do this, we have to go do this, let’s go do this,’ and so far, no one has raised their hand to do that. Still, it’s not impossible.”

SILVERSUN PICKUPS GO “UNPLUGGED” FOR MTV

The Silversun Pickups are among the latest batch of acts MTV has on tap for their MTV Unplugged series. The group worked through such tracks as “Well Thought Out Twinkles,” “Catch And Release,” “Panic Switch,” “Kissing Families,” “Growing Old Is Getting Old,” and “Lazy Eye” during their performance. Singer Brian Aubert credits bassist Nikki Monninger and keyboardist Joe Lester for their current ability to pull off acoustic sets. He states, quote, “When we did acoustic things before, it was always me on acoustic and everybody else plugged in but quieter, which I still like. But [Joe] busted out a melody and he started playing and it was really amazing.” Aubert says after Lester’s transformation from keyboards, drummer Chris Guanlao found some egg shakers and their acoustic lineup was complete. Visit MTV.com/music/unplugged to check out their performance.

SHINEDOWN REVISITS FIRST RELEASES

Shinedown is turning the spotlight on some of their past work with the deluxe reissues of their first two releases. "Leave A Whisper" and "Us And Them" are now available on iTunes with bonus content. The band states, quote, "We noticed people talking passionately about favorite songs that, either, had never been released, or were released in limited ways. We thought it would be cool to make these songs available in their various stages of development. We want to give the hardcore fans something more to sink their teeth into since it's been a year since the release of 'The Sound Of Madness.'" Check iTunes for the deluxe reissues. Tonight, Shinedown will be performing at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, Maryland.

MARCY PLAYGROUND GETS COLLABORATIVE FOR LATEST RELEASE

Marcy Playground is back in stores with a new album, as their latest effort, "Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage," dropped on Tuesday. Vocalist John Wozniak says the record was a complete team effort, which was aided by the work of producer Jeff Dawson. He states, quote, “That's definitely a function of Dawson, you know Jeff, in the studio engineering the thing.” Marcy Playground is currently touring the U.S. in support of "Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage." The band will be on the road through October, and tonight, they will be performing at TNT's Bar & Grill in Clinton Township, Michigan.

CHEVELLE’S JARRING IMAGE

Chevelle’s new single “Jars” is singer Pete Loeffler’s round-about statement on global warming. The vocalist tells Noisecreep.com, quote, “I took a little bit of a different spin on it. It’s a fictional idea, a crazy one. What if we were to save some of the Earth? The imagery is just saving everything into these jars down in the basement. It’s very random. It’s kind of absurd. If you can picture a cellar and a shelf full of jars and each jar has something a little different in it from the Earth. It’s basically just saying, ‘Wake up,’ but hopefully in a more creative way than just blatantly coming out and saying, ‘Stop global warming.’” “Jars” features on Chevelle’s forthcoming album, “Sci-Fi Crimes.”

COBRA STARSHIP CLEARS UP THEIR “MESS”

Cobra Starship has its next album ready to go. Listeners are already tuning in to the track "Good Girls Go Bad," which features guest vocals from "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester. Other songs on the "Hot Mess" album include "Nice Guys Finish Last," "Pete Wentz Is The Only Reason We're Famous," "Fold Your Hands Child," "You're Not In On The Joke," "Hot Mess," "Living In The Sky With Diamonds," "Wet Hot American Summer," "The Scene Is Dead - Long Live The Scene," "Move Like You Gonna Die," and "The World Will Never Do." "Hot Mess" arrives August 11th.

MONEEN SHARES THEIR “WORLD”

Moneen is getting the details in order for their upcoming fourth release, "The World I Want To Leave Behind." The 12-song disc begins with the title track and also features "Hold That Sound," "Great Escape," "Believe," "Redefine," "The Way," "The Long Count," "The Monument," "Waterfalls," "Red Eyes," "Lighters," and "The Glasshouse." The band recently released an EP featuring the track "Hold That Sound," and follows this week with the vinyl version of that collection. A North American tour in support of the disc will be announced shortly. Moneen's "The World I Want To Leave Behind" arrives September 15th.

SHUDDER TO THINK GOES LIVE

Shudder To Think is finally releasing their first-ever concert album. The disc, titled "Live From Home," arrives September 15th. The group reunited last fall after a ten-year break and the overwhelming response to their live shows is what drove the decision to put together the release. Songs performed during the set include "Red House," "Shake Your Halo Down," "Hit Liquor," "Love Catastrophe," "Lies About The Sky," "Jade Dust Eyes," "Gang Of $," "She Wears He-Harem," "Rag," "Pebbles," "9 Fingers On You," "No. Rm. 9 Kentucky," "Call Of The Playground," "Chocolate," "X-French Tee Shirt," "About Three Dreams," and "Day Ditty."

SEETHER SELECT SINATRA COVER

Seether is making the most of a cover, but this time it’s not Wham! The group is doing Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” for a new iTunes collection titled “His Way, Our Way,” which arrives this week. The collection features a number of modern favorites from different genres. Maroon 5 take on “The Way You Look Tonight,” melodic songstress A Fine Frenzy does “The Things We Did Last Summer,” country star John Rich tries out “One For My Baby (And One More For The Road),” and The Kills cover “Willow Weep For Me.”

BECK MAKES “IRRELEVANT TOPICS” INTERESTING

Beck continues to turn the music act website idea on its ear. The vocalist’s latest addition at “Beck.com” is a new section he’s titling “Irrelevant Topics.” The singer intends to host extended informal conversations with musicians, artists, filmmakers and other various guests in the section. Though nothing has been posted as of yet, Beck says the first “Irrelevant Topics” feature will be a chat with Tom Waits that will be posted in several installments. Since recently re-launching his website, the musician has started the “Record Club,” a place where he and his friends try to record one of their favorite albums in a day and post the results, and “Planned Obsolescence,” a weekly DJ mix consisting of some of his favorite remixes and works by other artists.

JACK'S MANNEQUINN SWIMS THROUGH SLOW START

Jack's Mannequin may enjoy a slow build with "The Glass Passenger" album and that's just fine with leader Andrew McMahon. The vocalist tells AlternativeAddiction.com that he feels things weren't completely in order for the first single "The Resolution," but there is some momentum behind the new track "Swim." The personal nature of "Swim" is connecting with audiences, and McMahon says, quote, "It's one of the more universal themes of the album, just sort of pushing through the tough stuff and just trying to get to the other side." The vocalist says he was feeling down at the time and just came across the word "Swim" and the song kind of built itself from there.

While there is a resurgence for "The Glass Passenger" album, McMahon says he plans to write some on their summer tour for their next release, with a possible return to the studio coming as soon as next spring. Jack's Mannequin will kick off their North American tour July 14 at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

ARCTIC MONKEYS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS

LIVING THINGS ENJOY TAKING ON THE RAMONES

The members of The Living Things are set to appear in the upcoming Runaways biopic as acclaimed punk rock favorites The Ramones. Living Things bassist Eve Berlin tells Spinner.com that his sister-in-law, noted video director Floria Sigismondi, is directing the film and asked if the group would play the icons during a scene that takes place in an English disco. Berlin says he's thrilled to be associated with the movie and adds, quote, "The Runaways music rules. All hail The Runaways." The film, about the 1970s all-girl rock group that included Joan Jett and Lita Ford, stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. It's on target for theatrical release next year.

ALICE IN CHAINS HEALS THROUGH MUSIC

Alice In Chains are back with a new vocalist and new music. The reunited rockers are moving forward from the death of Layne Staley with William DuVall as their frontman and drummer Sean Kinney says it's about time. He tells Noisecreep.com, quote, "This is us moving on from a really, really devastating blow. I carry this every day forever and it really brought it more to life when we were sitting there dealing with it together, knowing we never shared that with anybody. Jerry, Mike and I and everyone involved, we kept this all to ourselves since we pretty much pulled out in the mid-'90s." Kinney says they've held onto Staley's death for long enough and he feels the new album is part of their healing process. Their new disc is titled "Black Gives Way To Blue," and it's due September 29th.

Layne Staley's mother and stepfather found the rocker dead in his Seattle condo on April 19, 2002 from a drug overdose. The King County Coroner's Office estimates that Staley died on April 5. He was 34-years-old.

SICK PUPPIES FIGHT FOR AGGRESSIVE ALBUM

Sick Puppies are hitting hard with their new single “You’re Going Down” and it’s a strong indicator of the aggressive nature of their upcoming “Tri-Polar” disc. Singer Shim Moore says that a combination of factors led to the tone of the upcoming disc. For one, fans seemed to connect more live to their upbeat material, and then while recording the disc they were contacted to do some music for the “Street Fighter IV” video game. Moore says that as they set out to write a “fight” song, they found that the focus toward a particular sound really helped them create “You’re Going Down” and other aggressive tracks on the set. Moore states, quote,“I think it’s really helped because ‘Tri-Polar’ turned out better than we ever expected. It’s a good flowing record and got a good amount of light and shade, but it’s heavier than the first record as well.” “Tri-Polar” arrives in stores Tuesday. The band’s Samsung Mobile-sponsored tour begins this Friday in Tucson.

The four-track collection features the original UK mono single edit, the US mono single edit, the US stereo single edit, and the 1979 re-recorded version. In addition, when fans purchase the EP, they'll receive eight original song stems and multi-tracks for free which will allow them to remix the tracks on their computer or via the iPhones iKlax application.

EVERY TIME I DIE DEFENDS PETE WENTZ COLLABORATION

Every Time I Die is welcoming Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz as a guest on the band's next album and telling fans who are worried that this will hurt their credibility to lighten up. Singer Keith Buckley tells "Kerrang!," quote, "Pete has been a friend to Every Time I Die since we formed this band in the late '90s. He's an old hardcore kid like the rest of us. In the years that we've known him, he's come to be one of the most influential, creative and controversial faces in the music world and those are characteristics we respect immensely. Every Time I Die has never been one to shy away from controversy and including him on our record is a way to show everyone who listens to us that we are unconcerned with stringently adhering to mores and expectations."

Buckley says he's thrilled to be able to take advantage of his friendship with Wentz, as well as other artists whose talents he respects. Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato and The Bronx's Matt Caughthran are also guests on the upcoming disc. "New Junk Aesthetic" is due September 14th.

BILLY BOY ON POISON DISCUSSES “ON MY WAY” VIDEO

Billy Boy On Poison is getting a first-hand introduction to the music scene and things are breaking at a feverish pace for the group. Their single “On My Way” is climbing at radio, the song itself soundtracks ads for the new season of “Entourage,” they’ve made their first late night TV performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and they’ve got a video shoot under the belts as well. Label chief Kiefer Sutherland helmed the clip for “On My Way,” and it’s an experience the group will always remember. Frontman Davis LeDuke says, quote, “It was crazy to be on that stage with everything going on and Kiefer yelling in our ears the entire time,” says frontman Davis LeDuke. Another major milestone occurs today as their “Drama Junkie Queen” disc drops in stores.

MARCY PLAYGROUND'S WOZNIAK PLEASED WITH ENTIRE ALBUM PACKAGE

Marcy Playground's latest effort "Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage" is now in stores. The band's frontman, John Wozniak, says he loves everything about the record, all the way down to the artwork. He states, quote, “It really reflects what the music is about and what's behind the cover.” Marcy Playground's "Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage" is the band's first album since their 2004 release "MP3." The record features the tracks "Blackbird," "Devil Woman" and "Good Times." On Thursday, the band will be performing at TNT's Bar in Clinton Township, Michigan.

MASTODON GETS THEIR BREW

Mastodon may have a few empty bottles lying around after the Sonisphere Festival in Germany, but they will be a reminder of just how far they've come. ChartAttack.com reports that the rockers were treated to their own branded microbrew while attending the festival last weekend. Stephan Michel of Mahr's Brau brewery created a limited edition Mastodon Premium Lager that the band and the crew swigged during their appearance at the festival. Only 200 bottles of the ale were made.

THE CULT CUTS THE ALBUM CONCEPT

The Cult is out on the road celebrating their history by playing the "Love" album in its entirety this summer. But while there is a salute to the album form via the tour, the band is not too keen on the album form as a future release strategy. Singer Ian Astbury tells the "El Paso Times," quote, "There will be no new album. I don't think we'll ever see a Cult album. Albums are dead. The format is dead. iTunes destroyed albums." The vocalist says it's proven that people don't buy albums anymore and these days he's much more concerned with having a great song that they really believe in. The singer concludes, quote, "If we have a great song we really believe in, then we'll record it and release it."

THE USED'S ALLMAN COMMENTS ON LONELY “ARTWORK”

The Used is bringing back the angst with their new album "Artwork," and guitarist Quinn Allman tells Noisecreep.com that it was a natural evolution. The guitarist says, quote, "It's a body of work and it's not necessarily a pre-conception. It's about hatred of yourself or something or someone that you think you are. It's a lyrical escape into that thing. It's also about not trying to hate yourself, too. It's more about just facing that, not contemplating that way of being." "Artwork" arrives September 1st.

BARLOW OFFERS SOLO RELEASE

Dinosaur Jr's Lou Barlow will take a brief respite from the band to issue a new solo record. The musician's "Goodnight Unknown" is on tap for an October 5th release. Barlow says the disc is a cross between his later work with Folk Implosion and his earliest work with Sebadoh. Barlow will tour in support of the disc with his backing band, The Missingmen, who are also joining Dinosaur Jr. on dates this fall.

POLARIS SHORTLISTED

The competition for Canada's Polaris Music Prize is a little tighter today. Organizers have shortened the list to ten finalists. The candidates for the best album by a Canadian act include Elliott Brood's "Mountain Meadows," F***ed Up's "The Chemistry Of Common Life," Great Lake Swimmers' "Lost Channels," Hey Rosetta!'s "Into Your Lungs (And Around In Your Heart And On Through Your Blood)," K'Naan's "Troubadour," Malajube's "Labyrinthes," Metric's "Fantasies," Joel Plaskett's "Three," Chad Van Gaalen's "Soft Airplane," and Patrick Watson's "Wooden Arms." The winner will be announced during a September 21st ceremony in Toronto.

QUICKIES

The Silversun Pickups are among the latest batch of acts MTV has on tap for their "MTV Unplugged" series. The group worked through such tracks as "Well Thought Out Twinkles," "Catch And Release," "Panic Switch," "Kissing Families," "Growing Old Is Getting Old," and "Lazy Eye" during their performance. THE FLAMING LIPS WELCOME GUESTS ON UPCOMING ALBUM

The Flaming Lips are revealing more details about their upcoming double disc, "Embryonic," including the names of some special guests. Singer Wayne Coyne tells Swiss website "Die Klangschau," quote, "We have MGMT doing a song with us and we have Karen O. from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing a couple of songs with us. For the Karen O. tracks, I just called her up in her hotel room and we just did it right over the telephone. It's pretty absurd." The Flaming Lips' "Embryonic" is due in stores in September.

The vocalist tells Spinner.com, quote, "When I was in fourth grade, I wanted to be Michael Jackson as a zombie in 'Thriller.' I identified with the zombie version of Michael Jackson, so much so that for my fourth grade birthday party, I had a 'Thriller' birthday party and we watched 'Thriller,' the long version, like three or four times in a row and then we tried to imitate all the dances." Boyd says the zombie look is something that has stuck with him over the years and the zombie costume is always a favorite come Halloween.

The deluxe edition of the album will come with a copy of Williams' lyric journal, including notes on the meanings of each song and several other potential monikers for the disc. Williams says, quote, "The other album titles are in there, from the actual discussion where we sat down in our kitchen in Malibu and hashed it out. There weren't too many. One of them was 'Misguided Ghosts,' which is actually the title of a song on the record...and then another one was 'The Backwards Race,' which was a pretty good one, I got to admit. But from very early on, we knew what we were going to call this album. We really felt like 'Brand New Eyes' just felt right." Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" is due in stores September 29.

ANBERLIN DISCUSSES THE ORIGIN OF THEIR NAME

Anberlin is becoming more of a household name, but exactly what is with that name? The group has had fun over the years offering different suggestions from it being singer Stephen Christian’s proposed baby name to a misheard representation of the words “And Berlin” to lyrics of a Radiohead song. Drummer Nathan Young says, quote, “There’s seriously like ten stories floating around.” Christian adds, quote, “It really was the Radiohead in college. ‘Everything In The Right Place,’ if you listen really close, it kind of sounds like [Anberlin]. So I went to the lyric book to try to figure out what he was saying, and I had no idea, and I went online and no idea. So I was just like, ‘Anberlin…Sounds great.’ Now that’s my daughter’s name. No, just kidding.”

OUR LADY PEACE READY FOR DELUXE “BURN”

Our Lady Peace is getting ready to release their seventh studio album, "Burn Burn," and like many acts these days they will offer a deluxe edition for those who want more. The deluxe package includes the original ten-track disc along with bonus tracks, music videos, and a DVD component with exclusive studio footage. The "Burn Burn" album features the tracks "All You Did Was Save My Life," "Dreamland," "Monkey Brains," "The End Is Where We Begin," "Escape Artist," "Refuge," "Never Get Over You," "White Flags," "Signs Of Life," and "Paper Moon." The group recently shot a video for the lead single "All You Did Was Save My Life" with "90210" actress Shenae Grimes in the starring role. That clip, plus one for "The Right Stuff," will appear on the deluxe release.

Our Lady Peace will issue "Burn Burn" on July 21st and they kick off support of the disc with shows beginning July 3rd in Buffalo, New York.

SUSANNA HOFFS, MATTHEW SWEET GET “UNDER THE COVERS” AGAIN

Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet are continuing their musical partnership with a second volume of cover songs. The pair, who issued "Under The Covers, Vol. 1" in 2006, mine the music of the '70s for this second set. Hoffs tells Billboard.com, quote, "The records that we cover are records we love. There's out-of-tune singing, out-of-tune guitars, the drum tracks are speeding up and slowing down. Those records are great because they're about the feel. They capture the emotion and they're not about perfection." The 16-track set includes such classics as Rod Stewart's "Maggie May," Big Star's "Back Of A Car," and Yes' "I've Seen All Good People." The album drops July 21st.

Sweet is also co-producing Hoffs' new album with the Bangles. According to Billboard.com, the group is about three songs deep in the project. The Bangles just completed an East Coast tour with more dates planned for the fall.

RIVERBOAT GAMBLERS LOOK TO BIG NAMES FOR GUIDANCE

The Riverboat Gamblers are coming off one of their biggest tours to date, holding their own with punk legends Rancid and frontline radio favorites Rise Against. Rise Against continually raved about their performances through their Twitter account, and now Riverboat Gamblers are taking their show overseas to win over additional crowds. Singer Mike Wiebe says, quote, “I think originally from being in this area where we setting all these house shows up and a lot of bands were coming through, you end up seeing a lot of bands, and I was always attracted to the bands that had a whole lot of energy.” The vocalist says he looked at acts like James Brown, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and Little Richard, who could command an audience with their energy and presence no matter the size of the venue, and tried to blend that with their punk rock style. The Riverboat Gamblers are currently promoting their “Underneath The Owl” disc.

MILE HIGH MILE MARKERS

The event takes place July 18th and 19th at The Fields in Dick's Sporting Goods Park in the Denver area. The Saturday bill features Tool, Widespread Panic, Incubus, Ben Harper & Relentless7, G. Love And Special Sauce, The Black Keys, Gomez, The Duke Spirit, Galactic, Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam, and many more. The Sunday lineup includes Widespread Panic, The Fray, Thievery Corporation, 3OH!3, Gov't Mule, Gogol Bordello, John Butler, DeVotchKa, Buddy Guy, Pepper, Robert Randolph And The Family Band, Jet, Matisyahu, Jack's Mannequin, Guster, Honeyhoney and more. Be sure to visit "www.milehighmusicfestival.com" to plan out your music weekend.

SAOSIN SET ON “SOLID GROUND”

Saosin is set on "In Search Of Solid Ground" as the title of their next album. Singer Cove Reber tells IndieRockReviews.com, quote, "I think the title sums it up pretty well. I think with the amount of touring we've done as a band prior to sitting down and writing this record a year ago, all of us towards the end of the three-year cycle were pretty burned out. None of us really knew what was going to happen with this band." Reber says not only were the band member relationships in question, so was their backing, but the one thing that never waned was each member's desire to make more music. He adds, quote, "There was definitely a lot of soul searching...The guys gave me lots of freedom with the lyrics and melodies so that was nice." Reber says he went through a serious breakup and much of the time writing came during a period where he was trying to figure out what to do with his life. "In Search Of Solid Ground" arrives September 9th.

THE PIXIES FRANK BLACK WARY OF LABELS

The Pixies continue to tour, but at present there is no new music from the group. Singer Frank Black says even if the band were to consider it, this is a tricky time to release something new. He tells Spinner.com, quote, "The idea of releasing a record right now, even from a business point of view, it's kind of like, 'On what record label?' It doesn't even really make sense to be involved in releasing records that much right now, at least if you're going to make some sort of master stroke." The vocalist isn't ruling out something happening in the future, but prefers to let the music industry sort itself out first. He adds, quote, "I don't want to be my own record company because, to their credit, it's a lot of work to be a record company.

GREEN DAY'S COOL ROCKS INNER FEMALE

Green Day's Tre Cool continues to rock the drum kit, but with a little help from beyond. The drummer tells "Sun Media" that after injuring his knee, he's better than ever with a replacement part. He explains, quote, "It's been rebuilt. I've got a piece of some dead person in me...I've got a piece of a cadaver in there as a replacement." The drummer jokes, quote, "I've been having these weird dreams that I'm a school teacher in the Midwest. And female. I might have a woman inside me. More than usual." Cool says he's ready to get back on the road and fans will get a different experience this time out. The drummer says the band are adding songs they haven't played in years to give audiences something from their last touring experience. In all, Cool says upwards of 20 to 30 songs will be played during their upcoming shows.

Green Day kicked off their summer tour over the weekend in Seattle, Washington. Tonight, the band will be taking the stage at the Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

PARAMORE GOES PERSONAL WITH THEIR PACKAGING

Paramore is making its upcoming release "Brand New Eyes" a truly personal package, straight down to the look of the record. Singer Hayley Williams says that the band opened up during the writing of the record, and the personal nature is now carrying over to the packaging. She writes in a "LiveJournal" posting, quote, "The whole booklet looks amazing and we really worked hard to make it exactly how we wanted." The vocalist says that most of the shots were taken in Franklin, Tennessee, with some even being of her rooms and backyard. She adds, quote, "The whole thing feels very personal and I think it comes across that way." The group also decided to include all of the lyrics from the disc in the packaging as they want no misinterpretations of what's been written. Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" arrives September 29th.

BRAVERY LEAVES THE WOODS

The Bravery is making their first appearances of the year opening for Green Day this summer. The band says in a newly posted update, quote, "Our long silence has been due the fact that we've been living in an abandoned church in the woods of upstate New York, recording our third album." The group state that it's almost finished and that singer Sam Endicott will share co-production credit with John "Rodeo" Hill (Santigold, Amazing Baby, Shakira). The band is taking a recording rig with them on the tour to finish up the disc. They also reveal that Michael Zakarin will be missing from the first few dates of the trek while spending the last few days of his honeymoon in Europe. Bryce Martin is filling in on guitar until Zakarin returns.

ALL TIME LOW A “CUT” ABOVE

All Time Low is knowing targets when it comes to their presentation, but the one thing they hope is not lost is the music. Singer Alex Gaskarth tells "MTV News," quote, "We are a haircut band, for sure. We've been lumped into that category, but what a lot of people don't realize is that we've been doing this since we were [high school] freshmen. This is, like, our sixth year as a band now. We definitely notice it too, and it was definitely a conscious effort to kind of try and grow outside the box a little bit." The band succeed in their quest with the new album, "Nothing Personal," which is filled with ear-pleasing pop-rock tracks like the lead single "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)," "Walls," and "Too Much." Gaskarth says, quote, "This band got signed because we had the songs. So I truly believe in everything we do we try to set out and prove all the naysayers wrong." "Nothing Personal" drops July 7th.

THE STEREOPHONICS PICK UP SILVER, AIM FOR NEW MUSIC

The Stereophonics are adding another trophy to their shelves. The Welsh rockers won the Best Band honor at the U.K.'s Silver Clef Awards late last week. Singer Kelly Jones told "BBC 6Music" that the group has been working on a new album of late. He says, quote, "We've been in the studio for the last eight weeks so it's nice to get out of the bubble. We're pretty much finished. We've got two days left next week and hope to bring the album out in November. It's bigger and better and the songs are very very big songs."

MUSE TWEETS ABOUT “THE RESISTANCE”

Muse fans are now privy to the band's track listing. The group utilized their "Twitter" account to reveal the songs off the disc throughout the day on Friday. The album features the tracks "Uprising," "Resistance," "Undisclosed Desires," "United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)," "Guiding Light," "Unnatural Selection," "MK Ultra," "I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S'Ouvre A Tra Voix)," "Exogenesis: Symphony Pt. I (Overture)," "Exogenesis: Symphony Pt. II (Cross Pollination)" and "Exogenesis: Symphony Pt. III (Redemption)." The disc arrives September 15th.

Listening to KRock-Echo on your phone!

First off, I love listening to the station while I am in the car. I now in essence have a station I can hear anywhere like an FM station but with better quality than FM or even HD. The signal rocks it!

Any Windows Mobile phone, you can hear the station right now, just point your browser to www.krock-echo.com and the hit listen live.

I am on the terrible AT&T service so the signal is horrid near my house but once I get about 6 blocks away it works fine on the Edge Network and awesome on 3G.

If you have an Iphone or Ipod you can buy an app to hear the station and it works great. Here is the link to the app  called “OOTunes” http://ootunes.com/app/

On the G1 & G2 apparently you can add the Windows Media Player and the listen to the station.

Make sure you have an unlimited data plan so you don’t get some huge cell bill.

U2 HONORS JACKSON, SUU KYI DURING TOUR OPENER

U2 is not averse to providing shout-outs where warranted in their performances, and they chose the classic "Angel Of Harlem" during their tour opener in Barcelona, Spain Tuesday to pay homage to Michael Jackson. During the song, Bono managed to work in bits of Jackson favorites "Man In The Mirror" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" into the performance. The set was heavy on their "No Line On The Horizon" tracks, beginning with the show-opening foursome of "Breathe," "No Line On The Horizon," "Get On Your Boots," and "Magnificent."

The group also started their nightly tribute to former Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi by playing "Walk On" and asking fans to don the masks from their website as a show of support. Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since winning an election three years ago. The North American leg of U2's tour kicks off September 12th in Chicago.

DEATH CAB SAY LETO’S ACTING

Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Nick Harmer have some advice for 30 Seconds To Mars singer Jared Leto – stick to acting! Harmer tells “The Big Takeover,” quote, “Not to throw anyone under the bus, but Jared Leto and his band 30 Seconds To Mars – he’s acting the part.” Gibbard adds, “He’s a professional actor in music, so there’s no way to feel any sincerity about his position as a musician. Because he makes a living playing characters – so why wouldn’t he be able to take a step forward? Then you’re also acting what you think a rock star should act like.” Harmer continues, quote, “I believe in the intangible quality thing. I think Jack White – he’s savvy as all get out with the media. But he also just has this magic around him. Conor Oberst is another one for me. They’re able to kind of be one inside of the other.”

THE 88 MAKES AN I-SONG

The 88 is finding the iPhone more useful than they ever imagined. In fact, the group just used one of the applications to record a new song and release it. Keyboardist Adam Merrin says that while on tour this spring with The B-52's, they started browsing the applications and found something called "Four Track." Merrin says, quote, "I thought it would be a neat experiment to record the full band on a phone. I was very curious to see how it would sound." The group laid down acoustic guitar, scratch vocals, and drums on Anthony Zimmitti's daughter's toy drum set that he played with brushes. Singer Keith Slettedahl then added electric and slide guitars to the mix and Merrin continued the session with a piano part on a Yamaha keyboard, the recording of bass, and group backing vocals.

Adam says, quote, "After finishing a mix of the song, we really liked the way everything was sounding. However we thought the lead vocal sounded a little bit distant. We ended up using an Alesis ProTrack, which allows you to connect an iPod or an iPhone to both a microphone and headphones and adjust your input level." The end result is a track called "Love Is A Thing," all recorded via iPhone and now available on iTunes.

THE TING TINGS TAKE OVER BERLIN JAZZ CLUB

The Ting Tings may now have a home for their next recording. The group is planning to work in Berlin and percussionist Jules De Martino tells "BBC's Newsbeat" that they're hoping to convert an old jazz club they've found into a studio. Singer Katie White says they also hope to use the venue to test out songs for friends in a party-like atmosphere. She explains, quote, "That's why we've got the jazz club. So we can just stick a big plastic bag over the studio so it doesn't get beer on it and experiment on some crazy Berliners." The Ting Tings will be returning to the stage August 1 at the All Points West Festival in State Park, New Jersey.

BILLY CORGAN COMMENTS ON BILL FLAP

Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan is now commenting after feeling the backlash for offering lunch with himself for a charity fundraiser, but having the bidder supposedly pay the bill. Corgan says in a recent newsletter, quote, "Unfortunately, unknown to me, the info stated that the lunch was on the person who won the auction. Having never offered myself for a charity lunch date before, I was curious to see what fans might say about it. I was surprised to see a minor detail that I was unaware of that said winner must pay the bill at lunch turn into an attack on me and my supposed fortune." The vocalist adds, quote, "This is exactly what's to be expected in a mean and bitter world. Every act, no matter how kind or caring must be viewed through the dim lens of ambition, greed, power, and ultimate selfishness."

In response, Corgan says he plans to rise above and turn his website into a place for positive change. He states, quote, "It is going to transform into something else that is consistent with the concepts of love, grace, and community. We are not looking backwards anymore, only forwards. I, for one, am willing to stand for something good here in this little corner of the blogosphere, and say it's time."

SICK PUPPIES NOT FIGHTING “YOU'RE GOING DOWN”

Sick Puppies are happy for a side venture that took place during the writing of their “Tri-Polar” album because it’s given them their new single. Singer Shim Moore says they were contacted about doing a song for the “Street Fighter 4” video game. The group came up with several tracks, including “Street Fighter (War),” which was eventually used for the ad campaign. But in that collection of songs was “You’re Going Down.” Moore says, quote, “The idea of having a fight song, because we wrote those songs in the middle of the writing process, we realized that this feels good when we do this specific thing.” “You’re Going Down” is featured on the band’s “Tri-Polar disc, due July 14th.

COREY TAYLOR, SCOTT IAN LEAD “KERRANG!” AWARDS

U.K. rock magazine "Kerrang!" will hold their annual awards ceremony August 3rd in London and they're selecting Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Anthrax's Scott Ian to co-host the gala. Taylor said of his co-hosting duties, quote, "Even though I don't stand a chance in hell of keeping up with the mighty Scott Ian, I plan to hold my own in the only way I know possible...through sheer determination and large amounts of coffee." As for the awards, Slipknot leads everyone with six nominations while Metallica earned five.

ANBERLIN “BREAKING” AGAIN

Anberlin is coming off the biggest hit of their career with “Feel Good Drag,” and is finally ready to move on to a new song. “Breaking” arrives this week, and singer Stephen Christian says that the track is a full band and producer effort to create a really great song. The vocalist says guitarists Christian McAlhaney and Joey Milligan gave the track its musical start, and then he took it on his iPod to a coffee shop and started coming up with lyrics. From there it returned to the band to create their parts around the base of the song and once in the studio producer Neal Avron added his suggestions as well. Christian adds, quote, “Neal had his way with it and dear lord it sounded totally different when we were done, but it was unbelievable and he’s a great producer.” “Breaking” features on the band’s latest album, “New Surrender.”

PEARL JAM, BILLY TALENT LEAD VIRGIN ALBERTA

The Virgin Festival expands to several Canadian stops this summer and the lineup for the Calgary, Alberta shows is now known. Pearl Jam and Billy Talent will serve as the headliners for the August 8th and 9th performances at Olympic Park. Pearl Jam is joined on the Saturday bill by K-OS, Thunderheist, Arkells, Mother Mother, and The Cliks. Billy Talent welcomes support acts Metric, Tokyo Police Club, White Lies, and Shout Out Out Out Out on Sunday.

DOHERTY DOES DOUBLE, OR TRIPLE, WORK

Pete Doherty is not one to shy away from making music and he's not concerned where he makes it. The Babyshambles vocalist tells "Babelgum," quote, "Even though people presume Babyshambles was a substitute band, it existed back in the day alongside The Libertines. It's not weird having all three going, it's ideal. It's what I want, just to make music and then perform it or release it in a way that's the most natural." Doherty is currently promoting a solo disc, and "Broken Love Song" will serve as the next single.

SHINEDOWN TO STIMULATE

Shinedown is happy to be part of the "Stimulate This" package this summer and ready to do something for the fans. Singer Brent Smith tells Billboard.com, quote, "I think all of us think the public in general deserves a break. The people that work very hard for their paycheck every week deserve to have some rock and roll, and I don't think you have to make tickets an astronomical price. We're able to do what we do because of our fans...and they deserve to have a good time, so I think [entertainers] should stop being selfish and give back to the people who have put them in the position they're in." The "Stimulate This" tour will be at Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minnesota tonight.

A DEAD WEATHER SHORT

The Dead Weather will have a short film to promote the track “Treat Me Like Your Mother.” Filmmaker Jonathan Glazer helmed the short, which will receive a premiere on Cinemax July 11th at 9:55 p.m. The film will continue to air on all of the Cinemax multiplex channels for the following five weeks. Jack White says, quote, “It was overwhelmingly electric working with Jonathan Glazer on this project…It feels more short film than video. I’ve never felt an intensity like I did on the set of this shoot. Absolutely violent, explosive, and poetic.”

MAE’S (A)FTERNOON FOLLOWS (M)ORNING BUILD

Mae continues to tie their music to charitable efforts. The band has announced the release of its “(A)fternoon” EP, which follows the “(M)orning” collection. The first set helped raise funds for Habitat For Humanity’s efforts in Newport News, Virginia and local resident Rhonda Floyd now has a home as a result. Drummer Jacob Marshall says, quote, “We’re proudly able to announce that with only our music and your donations – and without the help of any record label or large corporations behind us – we have fully funded a house for Rhonda Floyd and her three children. There are no words to express the depth of our gratitude and appreciation.” The group continues to release a new song each month in return for donations and they are collecting the tracks into the series of EPs, which will culminate with the “(E)vening” EP later this year. Mae have raised 46,000 dollar since January. Visit “www.whatismae.com” to purchase “The Cure” and “Over & Over,” the first tracks from the “(A)fternoon” EP.
